Mr Bhagirath Choudhary is a seasoned technocrat with two decades of experience in agriculture-technology-food-trade continuum in India. He serves as a founder director of a not-for-profit scientific organization, South Asia Biotechnology Centre (SABC), New Delhi and a board member of the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. In the past, he was associated the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Public Research and Regulation Initiative, Belgium & International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications, USA.

Mr Choudhary obtained his education from Maharana Pratap University of Agricultural & Technology, Udaipur; Asian Institute of Technology & Department of Molecular Biotechnology, Faculty of Bioscience Engineering of the Ghent University, Belgium. Mr Choudhary has traveled extensively to USA, Germany, Mexico, Belgium, Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Netherlands, Myanmar, Bangladesh, South Korea, Kenya, Ghana and China etc

Mr Choudhary is credited with successful transfer of technologies including QPM maize, zero erucic mustard (ZEM) and anthocyanin extraction technologies from the lab to the land. He spearheaded the biosafety assessment, approval, stewardship and acceptance of genetically improved crops in India and SAARC countries. He is credited with four books on development and regulation of biotechnology in India & Bangladesh and published numerous scientific and popular articles on biosafety, regulatory system, intellectual property rights and risk assessment and management.
